    Quick Shift

    Hi Folks,

I drive an astra g van over the weekend and the gear shift was much shorter than my turbo cabriolet! (The reverse gear was in a different place aswell) Anyone know if there is a quick and easy way to make the shift on mine shorter apart from cutting the lever?

    Thanks

    Matt

Try Regal or PVD they have shortened gear shift adaptors for astra 'G's'

There not cheap though about £150.

    Hope this helps.

i made the stem shorter as when I took my old knob off, it twisted the top. Grinded it off (about inch and half) then cut a section out of the lift up reverse collar (at the bottom where you dont see it).

I plastic welded it together with a touch of superglue to make sure.

Put gaitor back on, placed new irmscher knob on, and sorted

I know the shift is still the same, but it looks different and feels more sporty too.

Fitting a proper short shift is 100% better than cutting the gear shift down. The proper kits replace the linkage and give a big difference on changes
