    Open Cone vs De-Restricted Airbox

I have acquired an open cone PiperX airfilter, and replaced my De-restricted airbox with it today. It mayby just me but this thing has done wonders. My airbox had a K&N panel in it, so I didn't expect much difference. Engine revs smoother and pulls harder. Positioned it right tucked into the wing so there is nice dense air there, removed the front right headlight aswell for abit and this went absolutely crazy

Got me thinking that I might get some Hella front lights and remove one of them Skyline stylee !

    You should be fine.

As long as your car is illuminated at each corner etc . . .

Not sure how easy they would be to pop in and out.

Does it make any difference in sound

I ran a pipercross viper on my gsi and it knackered up 3 air flow sensors so i switched to the panel filter and had no problems, just wondering whether yours will affect the air flow sensor :?

wow someone else that actually likes cone filters. I found mine made a huge difference and I luve it - also makes a nice sound - much better than any airbox mod.

Suppose it depends a lot on what engine you got also - the 8v's seem to love the cone filters.

Not convinced I'll keep it on there but it would have been rude not to just try it out !

Sound when the Turbo spins up is awesome. Will keep people posted !

I got the K&N 57i induction kit and thats not to my taste, however ive replaced the standard cone with a much bigger one from K&N's universal range and its much better, plus as someone has pointed out the cold weather is here!

Not sure how easy it will be to remove a light out of the hella quads as I have them and its all built into one unit like a solid block then the cover just goes on.

ive got the K&N 57i, and i really like it, better throttle response, nice smoother air flowing through the car! i preffer it totally to my de-restricted box with the pipercross panel filter. However am in the process of saving up for a nice viper kit as i think that will benefit more and also sound louder. but the induction kit i have does turn heads especially with my exhaust.
