    revs dropping, stalling...

last nite my engine managment light came on for about 2 minutes, i was shitting myself and hoping that it would go out. when the car is cold after a little rev the revs drp right down to about 500 and this morning it actually cut out. why is this? wot can be done without taking it to vauxhall and spending stupid amounts of money on it? its a 1.8 1998 sport if that helps. all advice much appreciated.

im going to take the pipercross air filter off this weekend and put the air box back on derestricted and then eventually replace the panel filter with a performance one. i feel that since habving the pipercross my car has been running weird and i reckon that the air filter has got something to do with it.

Don't bother about that Ron - have a look at my other posts... it's a common 1.8 problem.

Will get round to the how-to sometime.

I've had the same problem with my 1.8 16v.
Clean the throttle body out with carb cleaner.
After heavy or long driving crap builds up and
    chokes the engine.
To walk between the lines , would make my life so boring!!!!!!!!!

I had a new throttle body about a month ago and the revs still drop a bit (but doesn't stall).... can't get clogged that fast surely...?
