    Daft question I know, but can I use super unleaded in
    me 1.816v?????
    To walk between the lines , would make my life so boring!!!!!!!!!

    Of course you can. Can chuck optimax in if you want. Might find it is a little more repsonsive but not much IMO.

    Shell Optimax. It is just their 'version' of Super Unleaded, it is a higher octane than the normal Super Unleaded and has additives to protect the engine

    I've heard that Optimax is regular unleaded with additives that take it to a higher octane rather than being higher octane from the start. I've been using it in my 2 litre SRi and i must admit it seems better than regular unleaded.

    I might have to try this new BP stuff though and see how that is.

    I understand that's how all premium fuels are made, using 'raw' petrol and adding other stuff in the mix to improve it. Just like decent engine oils are all based on the same basic oil, it's the additives which make the big differences (unless it is synthetic oil, but then that's a whole new subject)
