I know everyone says this but whats the diff between your car and a 2.0 litre turbo coupe? (in price). Just a lot of hassle to turbo a car, then you got to uprate gearbox and brakes. I don't expect many have done a turbo converison to the 1.8. But for cheapish converision your looking at turbo, twin head gaskets, custom ECU and then some rolling road time. I thinks about 1000 for turbo, maybe the one of the z20let might fit, 1000 for ECU and then lets of rolling road time to sort mapping. Dunno abut labour, proberly a lot (i wouldn't like to guess ).

Labour would include all finding a water and oil feed for the turbo, and if the z20let turbo doesn't fit a suitable exhaust manifold would have to be made .

Doh, ops: I should read the title. Teach me to post at that time of night :P. Again i think it would be a lot easy to get a proper 2.0 turbo coupe rather than put a engine in , proberly work out cheaper.

The 1.8 doesn't respond too well to tuning. Would be cheap to PX your car for a Turbo Astra.

it's much easier to just trade the car in for a turbo model, it'll work much cheaper in the end. pluss faster than having all that work done to your own car, and your be able to sell it on as well, without having to explain why you swapped a perfectly good engine over.

I agree with Cal in the long run it's easier to just trade your car in for the Turbo version.

LOL dont listen to the kid, he only wants a turbo coz i said i was going for an SRi turbo next. :P

nah dave just swap her for a turbo coupe in a year or so, it will be cheaper and 100% more reliable as well as being worth more when you sell it.
