Does the 2.2L have power limit in 1st and 2nd?

Alright, i'm baffled, the accelleration of the 2.2L manual sri in 3rd gear is basically as fast as 2nd gear, it DEFINATELY pulls bloody quick, as far as i can tell that the car must limit power in 1st gear and 2nd gear like the turbo version (except, turbo limits boost obviously!)........
Is this partially right? Because the 3rd gear seems to have very very fast accelleration and it's downright scary, but 1st and 2nd don't appear to have the same affect.......
    Anyone else notice this?

Does indeed, but it's also down to the odd gear ratios.

A little monkey, up a tree, once told me that the V6 vectras had a torque "limiter" in lower gears, somewhere in the EMS, 2.2 just might have too...

Bit annoying, I can understand it on the turbo but there isn't really need on the v6 or 2.2. Both are powerful but not enough to cause problems in 1st and 2nd. The Clio 172 never had this sort of torque limiter and it was fine in first and 2nd when you really went for it, only time its a problem is in the wet.

Yes!!! it would...... i want it off
However, does anyone know what the gear ratios are on the SRi 5sp manual? (i assume it's the same box as the vectra 2.2L as well? same gate pattern)......
Although it may have "odd" gear ratios, but i don't reckon it'd create the effect it does.....
Anyone who works for vaux know?
