    Fuel Protest

Yet again, rumours around that the ***** at 11 Downing Street is about to **** us over, with another fuel tax increase.

Go to http://www.fuelprotest.com/ and register your vote.

You never know, yours might be the one vote that helps the protest reach its 100,000 target and makes Gordon take notice.

So what are you waiting for .. .. ..

I hope there aint no fuel protest, I lost out on work and a lot of money. There a lot of peoples wages at risk when they do this, there are better ways of doing this than Fannying around a refinery on deck chair stopping fuel tankers leaving to put a point across. The first fuel protests had sod all to do with motorists it was haulers and farmers that there commercial fuel had gone up, and motorists got the wrong end of the stick thinking it was about them so they jump on the band wagon and did sod all for them selves.

The protests did what they needed to do, told the Government what the people could do and how much they would take. Am I the only person to notice this, but since the fuel protests (and no-one blocked the tankers, they just didn't go out, so it was the oil companies playing along as well) the price of petrol goes up AND down. Before it just went up when oil prices did, but never went back down after the price dropped again.

I reckon we need another protest to tell Mr Brown that his taxation on fuel is a rip off and needs to be capped or reduced.

    (EDIT)

Just thought how much tax a motorist pays in this country

'Road' Tax (more is taken than is spent on the roads)
Fuel Tax (nearly 75% of the cost is TAX)
VAT (17.5% of every purchase you buy for the car, oil, tyres etc)
Insurance Tax (this can also be up to 17.5% of your expensive premium)

Now we have the 'stealth' taxes. Toll roads are starting to appear, GATSO's and other speed cameras are spreading across the UK faster than Foot & Mouth and they seem to be inventing spot fines for sundry offences by the day.

I don't know about the rest of the UK, but around my area Councils seem to be raising car parking costs and the growth of pedestrian centres in town mean more double yellows, so more parking tickets.

    Great here ain't it?

before the tax is increased, so at present if the same tax was on a mars bar then the mars bar would cost £2.50. Now we won't mention how much the mars bar would cost if the same tax thats on cigarettes were on it....

Well, hows this for a kick in the teeth, I read this yesterday

The folloing figures are how much of the money that each country gets is put back into transport:

    USA 100%
    France 50%
    UK 20%

From what I read, this is the lowest in teh modern world (well excl;uding the 3rd world countries that is)
