Astra MK4's - what sort of milage?

    Hi,

Went to look at a couple of SRi's (2 litre) today. What I was wondering is what kind of milage other people have racked up on theirs and if they've had any problems at all.

The 2 I've looked at had about 65-75k on the clock and were both T reg I think.

I'm looking to get one and I was wondering how much more life these fellas had left in them as I'm likely to be keeping my next car for a good few years. They were both in good condition - clean throughout (including the engine bays).

    Thanks guys.

    Steve

To be honest mate if your gonna buy and can afford the 2L go for the 2.2 just that bit more....

Anyway as long as they have a full Vaux history they should go for ages after 65-70K.What milage do you do also??

I do around 11-12k a year I'd say. Maybe a bit less now though.

2 litre is all I can afford to get really - I'm only 20 (and a half! ) and was originally looking at a 1.8 but decided I'd pay the extra premiums for a 2.0.

Is there much difference between the 2L and the 2.2 in insurance terms??

11-12K aint to bad! I'd say pay the extra for a 40K one though. In 3 years it will only have 70K on it and you'll be able to get more for it than one with 100k.

Yeah i suppose you're right about the mileage thing. I have seen quite a few with 100k+ though and they're still fairly well priced.

The thing is with astras is that they're always going to depreciate- i guess its cos there are so many fleet ones about.

I'll keep my eyes open. The insurance for the 2 litre is pretty much as high as I can go really i think but I might have a little look at the 2.2 just in case. But the more i spend on insurance the less i can spend on buying a car and then making it look nice - speaking of which, I do like yours! Blue is one of the 3 colours I'm looking at.

Have you thought about a coupe? The 1.8 16V ones are getting cheaper and are pretty quick

I was originally looking at the coupes but decided to go for an SRi instead. As I say, I'm only 20 and I thought that a coupe would be too much of a step up from a nova! Might get one next though but thats something to consider in a few years time.

Hows that colour to keep clean by the way?
