Mods and Insurance... do wheels affect your BHP?

I have just been on the blower to Admiral (who I'm with) about how much it would be to change my wheels.

I'm thinking of changing the 15" standard sport ones to the Vaux 16" that used to be standard on SRi and were given as standard on recent SXi models. (I used to have an SRi and found the handling a lot sharper with them).

At first they said it would be £40 extra, but then when I pointed out they are a standard item he checked... and then said that "it costs more because they increase the bhp of the car"

Apparently the underwriting department check this out on all cars.

    Is this true?

:? Alloys don't increase power . Its standard equipment so there should be no price increase at all.

they will increase the premium as they make the car potentially more nickable but the comment about increasing the bhp is absurd!

    Outrageous, that's what I thought.

I'm going to try and get a letter from Vauxhall...

Like I'll be at 115.000001 bhp...
