    Speakers / what a pain

fitted my infinity components to my front doors last nite.

Bloody mad job that was - too many wire

Well anyway, they sound amazing and the tweeters look pretty sweet too

Only problem now is on the drivers door the screw nearest the wing mirror wont screw in its just loose in the hole and the screw below that wont find the hole (seems to be about 2mm off)

Everything else is lined up perfect so can anyone guess why this is ?

All my trim clips and other screws are in their correct places so im well confused.

Love the speakers though Havn't got them amped yet and already my system is louder than i could ever want. But amping will give me a clearer sound so thats my job for next week.

What head unit do you have Skuzzle?

Don't know what to do first for more volume - head unit to replace CDR500 or different speakers.

    Cheers.

i taped the crossovers to the back of the door car - that way its in the door so only 2 cables need to run into the door.
I put them just below and rougly inline with the door lock pins.

Left the cards a bit bouldgy (how do you spell that) but imho looks better as it gives the door a bit of meat.

And as for the head unit - im running an alpine cda-7893r
60watts per channel from the h/u which is pretty loud.

I would recommend doing the head unit first as I found this made my standard speakers sound pretty fantastic anyway.

yup thats the components i got.

I bought the adapters from halfords to fit them.

Only problem i found was the door card had to be trimmed a bit.

Where the material bit meets the plastic at the bottem there was a small overhang which had to be sliced away.

Other than that crossover stuck to door card and that was about it.

    Simple really.

Can you remeber how much the adaptors cost??
If they are cheap enough I may as well jus buy them other than mucking about cutting the MDF.

    they are about £25

I tried the mdf but where the bolts go to hold it onto the door i would have had to have made it really thin to fit and then it wouldn't have been as strong as the plastic adapter

I've got the Infinity Components in the front too, i wrapped the crossovers in plastic bags (to prevent water damage) and used double sided tape and stuck them to the inside corner of the coupe door...I still got water damage, so ended up opening it all up and used anti-static bags that came with my Computer HDD and wrapped them even tighter...touch wood, been fine since..

Yet to be amped up, but can't fault the sound quality...crystal!
