Is the grinding noise just the PAS pump on full lock? - or is it noticably different to that?

    :? I honestly couldn't tell you.

With regard to the light i took it to my dealer after work and it was my engine light....apparantly i have a faulty cam shaft somethingorother which my engine thinks isn't there but it is anyway he's ordered me a new one and will call me when it arrives.

Im thick when it comes to things like this.

Yeah, and lets hope your cars under warranty as the camshaft sensors cost around £100 inc fitting and VAT!

Also, I really think that Vauxh should of made a recall of this, as its happend to a lot of astras i know of

It should be under warranty Lufc's not had the car for more than a few weeks!

At full lock I can hear the steering pump strain with the load, but I wouldn't describe it as grinding :?:

Yes its under warranty and if it wasn't then the VAT wouldn't apply anyway....we don't pay VAT in Guernsey

Also Steve i'm not too sure...this is the first time i've had power steering on a car so maybe its normal.....grinding ehm maybe i exaggerated but there is a noise and it seems to be normal so no worries there!
