I am not sure on Rover's if you put the keys in the ignition and switch it on whether that stops the alarm?

Put the key in the door lock then hold it in the open possition for a few seconds that might work, or buy them an Astra . Not sure on anything else?

I think you may need an emergency access code if it is anything like a Land Rover built after 1996. It is a four digit code which is input as follows:-

    1) Turn the key to unlock the number of times of the first digit
    2) Turn the key to lock the number of times of the second digit
    3) Repeat for the 3rd and 4th digit

Once finished, turn the key to the unlock position and see if the alarm LED has stopped flashing. The car will then start.

    thanks for your help lads.

    just got back

Did the emergency access bit from the handbook - see I knew thee is a good reason not to keep the handbook in the car.

Unlocked it and NOTHING worked , lights, ignition, hazards - nowt.

Sooooo. looked at battery - hooked it up to a doner car and tried again - a horrible clicking noise - dash lights etc worked
but wouldnt turn over , and the jump leads were very warm.

Then got worried the alternator was fried

Time to call the Alcoholics Anon's out - who confirmed the internals of the battery are fried and shorting
why do today what you can...... I'll finish this later
