    Irmscher grill

    Hi,

Just fitted an irmscher grill to my 2.2 SRi and can't believe the bonnet release tab sticks out so much. Firstly is it meant to stick out roughly to the front of the grill, and is there anything that can be done with it apart from painting over the white arrow.

    Ta.

    I had the same probelem.

    2 things you can do

    1. get a black permenant larker and colour in the white arrow

    2. cut the tab back to where the arrow starts

I cut back the arrow my self as it looks better

I used some black paint to match my bodywork, looks good if you can make it smooth.

well on mine i have cut the left hand side away from the (lizards tongue) as at first you will notice its pushed to the right slightly due to the placement of the grill but mine is still visable, you soon get used to it. remember though if you cut it down it might be a bugger if you refit an origonal grill for some reason.
    Cheers Rich.

I understand that the prescribed method from the dealer who supplied my car (C/W Grille) is as follows (PLAN A )

    1. Cut the left hand side (as you look at the bonnet) of the pull, so that it is flush with the main piece of the pull.
    2. Paint out the arrow with black satin paint, which matches the grille finish

    PLAN B

I spoke to Regal, because they do a stainless steel grille with no hole for the bonnet release. They supply a hooked tool and you cut back the pull to hide it, then drill a hole in it. When you want to open the bonnet the hook is used to pull the release.

As soon as I work out how to make/find a suitable tool I am going to mod my bonnet pull in this manner
