Nah, you don't have to run your car.

You'll probably want to though, it's not just finding out how much power you've got. If there are any faults with the car then the guys that run the rolling road will let you know.

Last rr session I went to , they did'nt let one guy put his car on because it wasn't running right.

Running a car up on the rollers shouldn't be risky at all. You need to make sure of a few basics before you take the car down, more to ensure that the operator doesn't waste time setting up the car to run normally (this won't happen on a power run like they plan anyway)

    Basically:

    1. Oil & Water level OK
    2. Tyre pressures OK (very important when running on rollers, as this can 'lose' power)
    3. Spark plugs/coil/lead/dizzy cap OK
    4. Air filter clean & intact
    5. Finally, plenty of fuel in the tank!

I've been to a rolling road and seen a bloke turn up with a rally car on a trailer, for setting up. It didn't have enough petrol in the (newly built) car to get it off the trailer and around the yard to warm up the engine before he planned to put it on the rollers
