    £220 to fit springs

Here is the response i got from my vauxhall dealer regarding my warranty and cost to fit non irmscher springs.

Further to your enquiry regarding lowering of your Astra, I have
discussed this with the service department and they advise me that your
warranty will be affected by using non Irmscher parts but not lost
altogether, your warranty would still be valid for failing parts
providing the failing can not be attributed to the lowering in any way.
I also asked for an price for fitting and was advised it would be
approximately £218.75 this is based on the job taking 2.5 hours, however
having not fitted these springs before this may be more if problems
    occur.
    What do you think?

    Bit Steep?

it is expensive yes BUT i got vauxhall to fit my avo 60/40 springs so that i would not upset the warrenty.

My springs were not covered by the warrenty BUT the fitting was so that meant the corresponding parts were as well.

I dont really have much choice....I cant fit them myself and if i go anywhere else on the island then they may charge less but as mat says i wont have the "but you fitted them vauxhall" to fall back on if anything goes wrong.

£40 for mine, and the guy had no air tools  it took 4hrs

Then took it to my local dealers to check his handywork and the tracking / alignment of the wheels.

Before everyone jumps in and slates Vauxhall to death, you have to remember that they are main dealers, so:

They don't do 'cash' jobs, Mr Taxman takes his share off ALL their work
They book the hours for the job off a computer, so the hours for the job are a fixed element when they quote (based on worst case scenario in most cases)
Main dealers are the most expensive per hour on labour (unless the non-franchised Vauxhall specialist is Lotus Engineering)
They get a qualified mechanic (with qualified mechanics wages) to work on the car, not a 'fitter', 'installer' or 'teknishun', so they have to pay a wage which isn't slightly skimming above the minimum wage.
