    Serious prob or not???

Does anyone know if I have a serious problem or not. :?: :?:
When I put my foot down in my MK4 2.0 SRi I get a really bad eggy fart smell come into the inside of the car.

I have always thought that this was due to a cat going?? Is this true if so what sorta option do I have for replacing it?

Ur help would be greatly appreciated,

    Tony

It wouldnt be because your CAT is new, as you have a 2.0sri, which ceased production in 2000 (i think), so I dont know of any 2.0s that have not covered over 30k miles! Unless you CAT is new, as in just replaced, then it is due to you doing silly little journeys to and from work without giving the car a good run, go and find a motorway, wind her up to 70mph, and sit there for about 30mins!!! That'll sort it!!!

The cars a T reg, I have only had it for a nearly 2 months.

it has 69,000 miles on the clock. I have full service history with it I have jus looked thru it and it dont look like the cat has been replaced.

I do some motorway mileage, I only get the smell if I boot it away from the lights or something. So its not constant.

Autosparks - U say that the a/c can smell like that?? My a/c has jus packed up. Switched it on the other day and it didnt work.

It is more than likely your air con stinking especially if its not been used...
If its not regually used bacteria builds up in the vents and gives of an eggy smelling smell......

Try shutting all the vents switch the fan off and see if the smell stops, You can also buy sprays that you spray into the Vent system which kill the bacteria and the smell......................

It would be very strange for smells from your cat leaking into the car unless it was leaking from the front..

u will get that smell from the cat if your throwing a load of unburned fuel through it.

Maybe car is misfiring or over fueling or maybe your just bouncing off the rev limiter.
