    milage counter.

Does anyone know if you can reset the milage counter as it's digtal, l thought you might be able to.

l ask cos my mate might have a GSI engine going, but mine's done 87k and the GSI has only done nearly 2k and l want it to represent the newer one if l get it.

    Cheers Jamee.

Yes you can reset the mileage counter but it is illegal......

The counter represents the mileage of the chassis and everything combined, although the engine will be new other components will still have covered higher miles........

Be carefull if its reset, better bet would be to obtain the service history or reciepts from the donor car-Engine which state mileage........

Definitely an offence to alter the speedo. You should get a receipt with the engine, recording the mileage and VIN number of the donor car. That way it is cross checkable with DVLA to prove the engines history

It's not actually against the law to change your mileage but it is legal to state that the changed mileage is correct.

ie - 100000 >>> 75000 sell it as a 100000 mile car and this is fine, sell it as a 75000 mile car and this is againest the law.
