    Halfords sprays

    Hiyas,

anyone got an opinion on Halford's sprays? (as in spray cans)...
They was reckoning they had the best colour match, I sprayed up my mirrors yesterday and although the finish is really good considering it was an out-in-the-garden jobbie the colour match isn't really up to much... S'looking like the lacquer's yellowy or something... there's this dubious tinge to the overall colour I'm not that keen on!

Perhaps I'm being too anal... they look fine from a distance

I've never found Halfords paint that matched up to the colour of the car. Most off-the-shelf paint never matches right. Better to get something like Dupli-Color Colour Matched, where they check the car and mix to the correct paint code. Other option is to go to Vauxhall, with a VXLSCC discount (which most dealers never ask for proof) it comes put at £6 for a tin of paint and tin of lacquer.

    i agree with Steve,

I bought some paint and primer off a local shop that was recomended to me by the lads at work. The paint and primer reacted!!!, and it looked too dark

Went to my Vauxhall dealer. Perfect Colour match and a shiney glass finish . It's worth paying that bit extra for.

The old range of Halfords off the shelf can was a better match than the Vauxhall cans for my old Pineapple yellow MK3.

After they changed the range it became 'special mix' only - got a tin of that (mixed by a chimp) and it looked fine, went on lovely but when it dried it wasn't even close and looked absolute poo. Even my colourblind mate noticed the difference. Not used it since - stick to VX or get some mixed properly.

I used Halfords spray on my rear spoiler and it reacted :?. I have used Vauxhalls paint before and the job was exellent when I finished the side skirts for my Vectra .

I had the same problem,I had to get pineapple yellow mixed at halford and it was crap. Getting some new wing mirros soon so I think I will go to vauxhall. Do I need to get the laquer when I buy the can of spray paint or does it not matter what laquer I get?

i used halfords for my silver to respray a large part of my rear bumper.

They didn't have the right star silver on the shelf but mixed it for me there and then.

    Matched up perfectly.

Also, i needed a bit more so got some more mixed and once again it was great.

One of my problems at halfords was trying to tell the 'mixing chimp' that Verdi was not Italian for yellow. Would he believe me - no he wouidn't.

He was most confused when the test spray came out pastel green.
