    0-60mph times for 2.2L manual?

    Well, i need some help!
I really need to know (more for interest than anything!) the "tested" or even "in a magazine" times for a 0-60mph for a holden/vauxhall astra SRi 2.2L in manual format
I seen the vaux site and it says 8.2sec, whereas, a magazine test over here got something in the mid 9sec!!
i don't believe it, i reckon 8.2sec is spot on.....
    Anyway, anyone tested them?

Taken from a quick website I found!!! Very True too!!!

    2.2 0-60 = 7.8secs

I think the info you had about 9seconds would denote a 0-62 mph, (0-100kmh) speed, which, if i am correct, would require a gear change from 2nd to 3rd, hence the slow time!!!

    Here is the link

    http://autozine.kyul.net/html/Opel2.htm

3/4 way down, info on the 2.2, and a table at the bottom detailing performance figures!

    WOWW!!!
I like that site, has heaps of nice info!!! If you look down the bottom, it says the coupe is 8.3sec 0-100....... i'd believe it!!! I don't think gear change takes 2 sec's, but i'll time it and see
    Thanks

wouldnt mind knowing the 0-60 time of my 1.6sxi I managed to reach 60 in 2nd once but have never since so I'm guessing it would involve going up into 3rd (even slower)

    Ok, 2 descrpenacies there!!!!

    Sorry!!!! lol

0-60 of the 2.0Sri was around 7.8secs, similar to the 2.2, 10bhp less, but weighed less also!!

Also, and being poilte here!!!, the 2.2 and 2.0 DO NOT share the same chassis, The chassis design was changed at around Y reg!! The reason I know this is because the exhaust layouts are slightly different!!

Apart from that, its a good site!

Ubugger, its 18.3 0-100 not 8.3!!! I think Porsche would even find that impressive!!!!

Is it quicker to change into 3rd gear on a 0-60 run or let the car pretty much run upto the redline in 2nd to get the best time?

Might sound like a daft question and may seem obvious but the power seems to die down at 5500rpm in all gears on mine so I dont normally take it above that point.

What differences where made to the chasis after Y reg?

The 2.2 has a slightly odd getrag gearbox with weird ratios and will accelerate better if you go up to 3rd. You can see what I mean by overtaking someone in 3rd rather than 2nd.

Chassis differences were minor, exhaust layout changed, which dentoes alterations to the chassis at some point or other, i'll find out more from my parts dude!!!

Most of the astra range, inc 2.0sri will not reach 60 in second!!! however, mine reaches 70!!! but that is after SOME mods!!!!

If you have a quick gear change then yes it could be beneficial, but just to throw all the 0-60 rubbish out of the water, read this, available else where on the forum!!!

I've always said its a stupid industry standard, and thats why manufc. now post 30-70 times etc!!! traction doesnt become an issue, (unless ur in a RWD TVR!!!!)

    Hmmm.......
    I still reckon it's pretty fast :P
I know what you mean though, and the 3rd gear accelleration is amazing in it.... totally flies.......
Still, it does beat ALOT of cars off the lights!
    Hmmm
    Time to get my stopwatch
