Problem today, car struggles to idle

Whilst driving about today, my car started haveing difficulty keeping constant revs whenever it was stationary .

Took it to the local dealers for a checkup. After messing around for a few mins, they stated it was the Idle speed control stepper motor and it would need to be replaced.

How much for one of these from dealers ?????? £150 + vat  excluding fitting  .

I need this urgent, so called in a favour with a M8 who supplies trade, same part as vauxhall's £57 :?

Dealers markup on this approx £119, easy money!

Check the idle valve is clean before you replace it, also check the hoses for splits or lose connections. This can cause the symptoms, but they aren't going to explain this at a garage if they can tighten a clip up AND lash on £150 worth of valve, which probably costs Vauxhall dealers less than you got off your mate in the trade

Not sure what its called but get that de-cloke/de-carbon stuff that you spray into the throttle body, try that first as that helps alot.

Also try an additive that cleans the injectors, may also help.

Had alot of problems myself with the idling on mine.

I watched the dealers mechanic carefully try and clean the idle valve with a fine tool, then he removed the hoses and airlined them. Not as sure about the condition of clip/hoses tho:?

    After shock
Not tried the additive route yet, has this stopped it from happening again or dose it return often.

Don't like wasting the hard earned dosh if I can help it

    Cheers

Clean out the throttle body, the 2 pipes from the rocker cover and the idle valve all at the same time, also check for leaking pipes.
Cant Think of Anything Funny To Say

The problem I had was alot more serious, so unless your cars spraying petrol onto the top of your engine it wont be what mine was suffering from!

I had the lot done at once and the major problem fixed and its been o.k since, not perfect but o.k.
