    red-top & ecotec

    is the block for the 2.0 16v red-top the same as the 2.0 16v ecotec?
    for example; can i put the red-top head on an ecotec block

    No, the ecotec is completly a different block, plus so I was told you can't fit the 2.0 eco head to the 1.8eco, very different so I was told?????

    my brother has aquired a red-top engine and i thought i may be able to change the head over and gain a little power, but as they're completely different i don't think i'll bother :?

    you'll also find some red top die hard fans swear that the Red top is more powerful, which in standard form it is..(ecotec being subject to EU emmission laws, etc) however, once tuned, the Ecotec would whoop any Red Tops ass! Plus, most ecotecs, have done half the mileage of most thrashed Red Tops!!

    Probably some head work, cams and the ecu re-done.

    Richie you got any pics of your car yet?

    Also you done any engine mods to yours?

    Iam affraid Iam behind in the times! got no digi cam ops: I am out on saturday though. I havent any engine mods yet. you have a chip dont you?

    Yeah unfortunately, waste of £300. Their good if set-up correctly however mine isnt, wasnt done on a rolling road or anything, plus ive got the super chip which is probably the shittest one out their!

    Also got a K&N 57i induction kit, another mistake! Only decent thing ive got performance wise is the magnex exhaust. Learn by your mistakes though I suppose.

    Should have been running throttle bodies, cams etc but thats another mistake and another story!
