    1.8 16V BHP!

Right then! I have a 1.8 16v G and I have recently found that my 1999 motor will have 115BHP, not the 125BHP the newer models have. So heres the question, can I have a tech 1/2 to remap my ECU to up the BHP? One argument is that there is no point as you wont notice the difference but then again you could spend £300 to obtain an extra 10ish BHP through an exhaust system.
    Cheers Rich.

Yeh i was kind of worried when i read somewhere that the 1.8 16v only had 115 bhp cos the sales man told me it had 125 bhp, but that clears that one up cos i have a new model one

The 115bhp version does not have the drive-by wire thing that the newer ones have, and also the ECU has a different program. You can't just put the new program onto the old unit as it wont do anything. The 10bhp sounds all good and well, but in practice seems to make very little difference.

Money spent on 10bhp via mods would be a lot better anyway, as this would give you tons more torque.

Could be as 'drive by wire' sounds a bit like the system BMW use and it does as you described.
    Cheers Rich.

Yeah its as you say no wires anymore, think vauxhalls using it in all the new models now, was also what the Ford Explorer things have which kept jamming on full throttle and causing them to crash!

Dont think you can rev the engine by hand anymore with the bonnet up on the cable line which is no fun!

Way I see it its one less electrical thing to go wrong!
