    Where is made?

How could you tell if an Astra G is made in Germany, Belgium, Brazil, etc.? For example, the first digits of VW ID numbers tell you the country of origin. Thanks.

If you give me your VIN number then I can put it in the Vauxhall EPC and it will tell me where and when it was made.
(I have blurred my VIN out coz you don't know who is looking at this)

Alternatively, you can visit this link :

    http://www.autobaza.pl/ab/en/web/productaa0100

. . . and enter your chassis number and it will tell you all.

    Origin

Thanks guys, I'll try to get the VIN number from the dealer and check it out. I live in Panama City, Panama. The dealer told me the Astras are imported from Germany; however, I've been told GM imports the Astras for Latin America from Belgium. I just want to make sure the dealer is telling the truth since it doesn't make any difference to me between Germany and Belgium.

    Where is made?

Maybe it's a dumb question, but what's the difference between "Country of Origin" and "Assembly Plant"?

Country of Origin seems to be where it was designed and built initially

Assembly Plant is where your car was actually put together, looks like the opel coupes are built in Italy.

Country of origin is where the company that builds the car is based, so all European built Astras are actually Opel, as the European HQ is in germany and therefore german origin. The assembly plant is where the thing was glued together.
