Your first one is the automatic update. If you have done an online update from the web, then this has failed. Try using the roolback option to restore from a previous restore point.

Second one is the Symantec control panel area. I am assuming you are running with symantec virus protection ?? If so re-install the app, i would fix the first error first though !

Thats not too good. Try hitting F8 before the windows splash screen comes up. This will give you different options, like safe mode, and I think a restore option is available there. If this errors with the same DLL then you maybe looking at a rebuild !

it might be an uto update for the virus software, try disabling this and re-booting

if not, can you run regedit?
if so search through the registry and clear all the string with symantec in them

If all that fails just reinstall windows xp....yeah its a pain in the ass and you will lose all your saved info but it should sort your problems out.....only use as a last resort.

And yes the symantec one is defintely to do with your antivirus sofware...try uninstalling this if you can get that far. I imagine the two errors are related if they have suddenly popped up at the same time so fixing one may automatically fix the other.

THis is all probably useless to you but nevermind.

Regedit enables you to edit the registry of the machine. Each computer has a system registry which it loads when you first turn the computer on. By editing the registry and taking all the symantec strings out the computer will no longer try to execute those commands and should load as normal. The only other thing you could do is select safe mode after pressing F8 on load and get into machine, burn anything important onto a CD and re-install XP.
