Rattling/tinny sound on RH full lock

    Hi there

Wonder if anyone can help or has had the same thing happen:
In the past week when I turn right and put full lock on I get a kind of tinny, rattling noise as if something is been dragged along the floor on the left front side of the car. Its starting to do it sometimes when i havnt got fulllock on - so before I take it to the garage to get it checked - just wondering if any one knows what it is.

thanks for any help cos its getting me worried

    Phil

Could be anything mate, maybe something loose...

Don't want to worry you too much, but it could quite possibly be a driveshaft/CV joint.... is your car lowered by any chance?

    Cars lowered by 40mm.

is it likely to be an expensive job if its the driveshaft?

    cheers

Why would it only be making the sound when im turning right and not any other time - it doesnt make any sound when i go over holes or rough ground which i thought it wouldve done if anything was loose.

It is quite possible that your brake pads need changing, mine did the same thing the first time the pads needed changing (had me confused for a while), there is marker on the pads to let you know when they need changing when this comes in contact with the discs, i t can make a jingling noise, especially when the brakes are not being applied.

Thanks Ritchie - I hope it is the brakes cos I think this would be cheaper than getting the driveshaft fixed.

where is the marker - is it visible without taking the wheel/brakes off?

Providing the pads are genuine ones, they shoud have a small strip of steel attached to th Metal partof the pad, when this comes in contact with your disc(As the PAds wear the strip comes closer and closerto the disc) you getthe jingling noise mentioned B4. To check them properly you need to take the wheel off
