Paint and Chips (no fish and chips)

    Hello,

Today, while I was shifting through the lanes of hampshire, comming back from work, a heard a BANG! comming from the left front wing. Apparently, it was a small stone that I drove over, flew and bounced back on a wall about 2 foot away from the car .
Checked it at the first chance and noticed a tiny but annoying (since I know it's there) chip
(chip as damaged paint, not chip as potato).

What would be the process to sort it out? what do I need to get, where from, and how do I apply it?
(Last time I checked at Halfrauds, I couldn't find a scratch remover for Metallic green, any alternative places?)

As I got the car 2nd hand, I've noticed attempts to "fix"
a couple of other chips. As it doesn't look like they followed the directions properly, I was wondering if they could be rectified.

    sorry for the long post

    Cheeeers!

Chips away would be your best bet by the sounds of it...but they are not cheap!! Details are in Halfords stores if i remember correctly.

Other than that buy yourself a new bumper (modded one) and get the front end re-sprayed!! Gets rid of the chips and you get a mod out of it (oh it may cost a little more though LOL)

If you have a few scratches/ chips i would get it all done at once by a proffesional bodyshop, then there will be no showing, in any light, of the chips that were once there.

But this will probably cost a bit more

    Hello,

Just got a Stone chip and scratch repair kit from halfords. Assuming proper application, are there any dangers? I mean, is there any chance that the application of the kit may do things worse, in terms of rusting etc.? (btw. as the chips are pretty fresh, there is no sign of rust, yet.)
The main reason I want to treat the chips is to avoid rust build-up, but someone told me that the chemicals in the kit may accelerate rust...
Anyone has any experience on this?

    Cheers,

    LOL

If the kit was designed to accelerate rust then they would be asking for lawsuits against them !

If your that worried go to vauxhall, and the get the whole panel painted !
(and pay the earth for it, pray that it matches with the rest of the car etc!)
