I previously had a problem of my h/u cutting out when turned up loud.

I knew it was the earth as I hadn't connected it up (just to start with)

Connected the earth and it solved it.

The problem, however, has come back. Do you think this could be the earth again.

Like I said, it happens the same as before. Only when turned up loud.

Obviously the h/u is earthing slightly through the aerial.

This might be a protection circuit that is activated when the internal amps get to hot.

What speakers are you running off it? Also what model nuber is the unit?

Hmm doesn't sound like it would over heat with that set-up.

Might be best to pop into your local Alpine dealer, and ask for some advice.

i think i'll check my earth out first as i been poking around behind the h/u quite a bit lately.

I presume its wired straight to the battery like it should be, i wouldn't be suprised if its getting a bit hot i know my one did (7876RB but it never cut out) and air flow doesn't happen much behind the astra dash

Yeah I was thinking that, but my Alpine CDA-9815RB hasn't had any problems.
