View Full Version : let with 2.2 a/box owners
i would just like to know your views on the 2.2 air box mod, is it worth doing, is it a problem that the afm is so close to the turbo and could get hott, i have recently tryed a few induction kits inc enclosed and open cone filters and did not like them. the carbon enclose filter made my afm go crazy and the cone paper filter is just too loud. i am running 270ish bhp-full eds phase 3.

a few people i have spoken to with this mod say its good and it improves throttle response.

i think its either de-restrict and veccy c pipe or the 2.2 box. i dont think theres much between them tbh. i didnt do the 2.2 as didnt want to cut the loom.
What about the 1.9 diesel airbox instead. Same kinda set-up, but you don't have to lengthen the wires on the AFM.
This page (http://pic5.piczo.com/sparks71/?g=13483485&cr=5) shows a variety of different set-ups, including 2.2, 1.9 diesel, open filter ones etc.
I know everyone always says it, but have a search for it. it's been covered loads.

Prety sure you still have to lengthen the wires.
Really? i thought you didn't have to, which is why people started doing this mod. Or is it because the AFM is further from the turbo?
both 2.2 & 1.9 air box mods still leave you with an issue of where to place the crank case vent, it should be after the AFM and before the turbo, not in to the air box!
I have not seen any perfromnce figure that suggest either is worth the money spent on them, cosmetically they do look nice.

I did this mod today!! Using an induction cone! Its great! Also so easy!!

Why not in the airbox as thats where the Vectra VXR has it
