View Full Version : Actuators
Am thinking mine is becoming quite weak now with age (94k) so am in the market for a new one.
Courtenay have them for about £65 - would it be better to get an uprated one or just a standard one? The OB on the current set up goes to about 22-24 psi. Not sure on bhp or torque although it has been mapped.
Any other suggestions?

you really need an uprated one for 22-24 ob psi imo.
So.... is courtenay the best bet or is there a better priced one out there?
Or would a vxr one be good?!

Vxr one is no good for that kind of pressure. Regal also do an uprated one - not sure of the price though.
Courtenay seem to be £65 and Regal are £150!! I suppose they are both closed for th festivities?!
This is my final straw before committing to a new remap from Wallace at the RR day in January so would rather have it foxed for £65 than for £400 plus £65 anyway because I possibly have a knacked actuator. :(

courtney are £120 for an uprated actuator. that includes the bracket as well

In my opinion, the Courtenay actuator with EDS Phase 3 software made the car really jerky, driving on part throttle was a nightmare.
When I put the Stock VXR actuator back on it was smooth as silk, it didnt overboost so high, but it had nowhere near the same amount of preload on.
Depending on what you are after, I suggest in the majority of cases a VXR actuator would do the job you want
The vxr and LET ones have the same part numbers do they not ?
anyway rob i have a spare LET one here thats done about 30k of you want it ?
How much? Worth a try IMO, can paypal the funds or bank transfer? Or cash and carrier pigeon?!

This might be the problem I've got. I've got courtenay CS3 with the up-rated actuator ready for if/when I go for CS4. It was fine when I first had the re-map but it seems to have changed a bit over time. The boost can kick in a bit sharp when you're trying to drive smoothly (more of a problem on wet roads) and it's lumpy on half throttle at medium revs. Might try my standard actuator back on but i'm not gonna touch it until i've spoken to Courtenay (when I get a minute!)
