I was trying to find out what the rattling noise was on the car yesterday and found out that the bottom actuator nut was at the end of the thread. How strange I thought, so wound it back on to where I thought it should be and went for a drive. Wow. It was boosting well, over boosting to about 21psi (been mapped!) and holding at 14 ish psi. nd the rattle was gone!
So, when I got home, I thought I would have another look and see if it had moved and it hadn't. Did a quick search because I thought it was meant to have 2 nuts, one either side of the thingy (no idea what the technical term is!!) and found the other nut was as far up the threaded part as it could be! Wound it down, both are tight now but didn't get a chance to test the car until now.
WOW! Its OB'ing to 22psi and holding steady at 15-16psi!
It was vauxhall who were last working on the turbo, so i wonder how long its been like that?! http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif
I thought it was quite strange because I put a tank of shell v-power in and didnt notice much difference. I do now!
So, there is a lesson for all in here - if you think your boost is a bit 'sluggish', check your actuator!
