Do irridium plugs make a big difference?
Just wondering.

Personally unless your car is mapped or running higher boost I wouldn't bother. Wouldn't do any harm to change them when the presesnt ones are shot but I don't think you'd notice any difference doing it as performance mod.

On their own on a standard engine i don't think you would see much difference but as soon as you go to phase one or similair level then yes get them, mine were on their way out before and when i replaced them it made the world of difference, can see it being the same against standard spark plugs maybe.

At the moment I have a K&N panel filter, Vectra C intake, pre cat pipe.
In the near future I will get a cat back Milltek (June/July hopefully) and a 9L SMIC.
Do you think it's worth putting irridium plugs in at this time or wait until I get the map done?
What sort of power figure will this little lot produce on a standard map?

I've got them in my unmapped car.. Runs much better!!
The vauxhall ones are rubbish, lasted me 10,000 miles before i noticed a rough idle. Since putting the 1.1 mm gapped plugs in mine it runs so much smoother!

Sorry to go off topic but, wouldn't bother with the SMIC, save a bit more and get the FMIC instead, get much better results from it.

My car runs alot smoother with the Iridium plugs running a standard "GSI" map.
No performance gains however, though I personally wasnt expecting any.

Bet there is a slight performance gain especially if you buy the 1.1mm gapped plugs. Better more efficient burn means more power especially if your changing from knackered ones... How much though is debatable... 1-2bhp maybe
mine has them in - and has had for a while - I really need to get my beastie on a RR - she hasnt been on once since Oct 04 and I have done quite alot since then!! - but I am a chicken!
