View Full Version : z20let exhaust
Can someone explain the stages of a z20let exhaust, from the engine through to the back box.
I am hoping to get a ss made for it and want to know what i am talking about before i ring them:D
I no there are 2 cats on them and have been told you can only remove 1 of them as removing the other one messes the ecu up.
i have a irmsher back box on at the moment.
thanks for any info:cheesy:

Depends if you car is an early or late version. Bacially:
Turbo Outlet > Precat pipe (with first O2 senosr before the car) > main cat (O2 sesnsr after main cat and flexible section before the cat) > Centre section > Back box.
The early ones have a one peice pre cat and main cat.
Here are some pics for you.

Hi Mike, thanks for the help, i take it the Short pre-cat pipe with sensor just after the turbo replaces my box type oe cat,
then the cat in the last picture is replaced by the one that looks as though you have had welded in place in the 2nd from last picture...phew
then you have tour new shiney centre section leading to the back box:mrgreen:
basically what parts could i lose on a track day exhaust:)
without confusing the sensors.
cheers anth

that last pic is the o/e fitment. the 2nd to last is the 200 cell sports cat. as for parts you can loose for track days, i'd say anything after the main cat.... but its gona be a bit shy..... NOT!
its gona be spouting very hot exhaust all over the underside, if it releases a flame onto already moltem underseal, should be quite spectacular to watch.... not to forget the fuel cell thats in its path as well.... not somit i'd wana be in
