hi my car has done 39k now and has been ran on 10w-40 oil i want to start to put 5w-40 now is this ok and does it matter who makes the oil as long as its a good name.

Vx recommended 0w40 fully synth, by mobil 1 when i asked.

Vauxhalls own Fully Synth 5W-40 IIRC is perfect, ran it in my GSi and my Mini Cooper S and its spot on !

what about vauxhalls 5w-30 oil is that ok as well:confused:

Steve, I could be wrong, but I dont think Vaux sell the 5w 40 any more it has been superceeded by the 5w 30.
You could try the Millers 10W40 XFS, which is supposed to be quite good.

It may well have been superceded mate, i dont know, not used it for a while now.
it has now steve,i phoned vx today its 5w 40 super syth now £26 for 5 ltrs im going to get some..thanks mate.will my car be ok with the it in even though its been running on 10w 40 semi for 39k??:confused:
The 5W30 is the Long Life stuff they put in the diesel Vectras. I'm using it in my Corsa, no complaints so far.
