hi again guys,

im really confused:confused: , i dont have much knowledge on turbos and dump valves, wat i wanna know is if i have a bailey d/v should i have the dv26, or have the dv26-d, i can get a 26 off a mate but would it mess up the engine???? what is the big difference between the two? is one a softer spring?

cheers

you need the dv26-d as the spring is stronger or something like that

When i bought one of them DV36 it sounded crap and really had to listen with the window open to hear it. I sent it back to be replaced for the DV26-d and in the mean time put the DV26 from my punto on it and it seemed fine and sounded nice. Couple of days for the DV26-d come and put that on and it is not the normal sound of a Bailey DV and more quite than the normal DV26

The DV26 D has a stronger spring, which closes faster as the excess boost pressure is lost. Without this, especially on tuned up engines, the AMM 'sees' airflow when the throttle is closed, confusing the ECU and either overfueling the engine on each gearchange or at idle, causing the ECU to log a fault.

The side effect of the D type is that you get a 'dump' which is more chattery, like wastegate noise and the noise stops quite quickly. Any DV for the Z20LET must be a twin piston design, as a single piston DV will allow air to flow over the AMM as the engine idles.

i have a turbo smart on my new GSi and it works fine, sounds awesome too, it sounds as loud on my standard GSi as my mates bailey does on his tuned up C20LET which is running at around 270BHP !
