View Full Version : Another boost gauge
I have now fitted a new boost Gauge. It's a stack one. It's boosting and sitting at 10psi, it sometimes goes past 10 but then it comes back down again. Is that about right? I have not had it on a good run yet but I will check it in all the gears when I get the car back from the paint shop. My car is only standard for now......

Sounds about right for standard.
That will do me then, for now. I need to sort that split in my manifold next and the snapped stud on my manifold. Cheers

im running standard map but mine olny boosts to 6psi. overbost at 8psi!!!! i get -24 on the vac after i removed the vac box and rear BCS.
I thought mine might be down on boost with the split I have on my manifold and snapped stud. I am happy with my results, I will see whats it's like on a good run.
Snap. In the middle of getting my manifold fixed also.
I believe you can get 2nd hand manifolds from regal for £50. If you are looking.
Have you got your old one off yet? Mine will need some work to get the old studs out, and the snapped one. Cheers
I get about -20 cold -24/25 when warm also have the rear BCS & pipework removed fully. Only a cheap gauge though so **** knows how accurate it is..

is this 20/ 24/ 25 psi mate? is this standard ? if so your gauge is well out mate. as above marks is spot on for a standard gsi turbo . so unless you got a 6.0 ltr vxr . i would get a diffrent 1 mate

I got hold of a spare manifold and paid a garage to swap them, as my tool of choice is always a hammer. Got new studs, bolts and gasket fitted. I had an ikea style bolt on one of mine, guess the stud must have been knackered or lost. lol.
Did any bolts snap when they changed it for you? Thats what I am worried about, just incase mine snap off just like the one I already have snapped

yes perfectley normal mate, called over boost..then it setting's down and hold's and (in ur case) 10psi..
mine runs at 9psi and -18 on vac

I don't think they did. They didn't say they had, but they were all changed. I believe the biggest problem they had was separating the manifold and turbo, think there are 3 bolts. They were practically down to their last spanner. lol.

Haha Regal let my bolts from manifold to turbo come loose and actually seperate the turbo from the manifold causing it to sit off line, the metal clamps were doing nothing, no wonder it was knackered weeks after being fitted!!
-18 seems way too low mate, mine runs at -24 ish and that's on phase 3.5 which idles at 900rpm, the needle seems to sit at 0 though but 10 psi on a standard car should bring the limp home mode in and the EM or Traction light on??

where as mine is standard. oh i forgot to say. its got a monaro engine in it. with twin turbos. but its standard! :hysterical: :hysterical:
Thats a joke - dont take me seriously!!
The only light I get on my car when I give it some power is a traction light staying on. It won't go away til I turn the engine off and back on and all is fine again.

Yeah I've been getting this and it's down to my plugs I believe as it was fine till I changed the NGKs for Densos and they weren't gapped properly.. Gonna put the Densos back in today with a 0.65mm gap to see how they react..
