Hi all, I've just bought a new FMIC kit and I'm planning to fit over the bank holiday weekend. I've read in a few places that the coupe bumper has to be trimmed.
Just wondered what has to be trimmed and by how much?
Oh forgot to mention, I have a slimline fan so does that mean I will not have to cut the bumper as the IC can be mounted further back?

depends on size of fmic but 99.9% u will need to trim and if poss push rad back, i fitted 2 to coupes one with 57m pipes and one with 63mm pipes, and both a frigging knightmare. if u got a slime line fan that will help

Oh, the instructions i received did not mention anything about moving the rad back or cutting the bumper. I got the kit from ebay TXMotorSport FMIC Kit...
Anyone else fitted this kit and had to cut their coupe bumper?

they wouldnt, but normally u need 2 move rad back on coupoe as space is a premium on them, even wiv slim line fan u will probs have 2 shave bumper a bit, i gone for the 140mm high fmic this time, so shud give me ickle more room 2 play with, the 180 does fit, and the slim line fan shud give u 10mm maybe, but i still reckon u need 2 shave the slates maybe.
but try, dont have a swear box near by or u be skint after fitting one 2 a coupe:hysterical::hysterical:

My slats remain but I had to trim and that was with spacing the rad back. I used a sharp Stanley knife to trim mine back and it came out fine. The main places you'll need to trim is near the ends of the slats just before where they join back to the bumper.

an easy way of doing it if you can get hold of one is just use an orbital sander with a very rough pad and just sand the fins at the rear of the bumper back at least an inch. and make sure you do move the rad back aswell on the top an bottom mountings. :)
