when selecting 3rd and 4th it sounds like its crunching or grinding to get it these gears.hoiw long till gota replace box and what other boxes are good??i have mk4 astra coupe turbo i don't know what box it is just 5 speed.what other boxes will fit my z20let block any help thanks matt
Maybe try and change the gearbox oil first...

can you tell me what oil should i use and where abouts the draining plug and filler plug is on the box sorry all to sound a bit dull but not usto vauxhalls always had french cars
I'm pretty sure your car would have a f23 gearbox.
best bet for gear oil IMO would be your local vauxhall dealer.
I'm sure someone on here would now how much you need and how to drain and refill etc..:)
Try to get some royal purple gear max. Great stuff and takes alot of the 'cluckeyness' out of the f23
