View Full Version : RR result part 2

Following on from my previous dyno session 2wks ago it came to light there was what appeared to be a boosting issue.

First we put it down to the original map but after some discussion with a certain tuner we then narrowed it down to the AFM or BCS (rear one as front is new anyway)

That aside, I fitted a new AFM yesterday and took it along to my preferred dyno over in Cumbria. The results were quite frankly excellent considering all that was changed was the AFM.

RR Session 20.09.2008 (Original AFM)

RR Session 04.10.2008 (New AFM) (dont be misled as the bottom axis is time and not rpm as above)

The main priority of fitting this new part was to eliminate the dip in the torque curve and to cure the stalling issues I was having. This I think (touch wood) is both cured.

I will still be fitting a new rear BCS on friday.......oh and its also gonna be mapped too :)

Boost is a little down on the latest graph but what does jump out is the peak power figures .... 225.0 bhp & 239.7 lb/ft

Not bad for a standard 190 coupe turbo map!

Opinions, thoughts, questions welcome

Looking good! Amazing how something simple can make such a change!

Be good to see this place for myself in November if a certain lady wife isn't in labour on the day!

Well Chris, the RR day is definitely going ahead so full steam ahead. Definitely the only dyno I will use from now on - even tho it is 80miles away!!

After getting nowhere with MSD I've changed plan and going to Thorney instead. Discussed things with John Thorne over the past few days so will probably be going for the TMS Stage 3 ... considering the S4 but think thats a bit OTT for me.

Having said that, I may just stick with a Stage 2 - will see how I feel on the day.

TMS beat the competitors (MPG for instance) due to the fact they have a dyno which is vital imo.

you dont need a Dyno for a remap one of the Big tuners only got a dyno 2 and a bit years ago,
Ian at MPG can do a Remap no probs on your car
you can get the same remap that TMS do from ian at Superchips :) also a bit cheaper

do cars not vary from each other danny. would the rollers not help with the fine tuning to get the most out of the engine.
i'm not having a go mate just trying to find out what is best. so many people go on about different places

they Could go for a Drive with tech2 pluged in an look at what the sensors are doing and thats better then any Rolling Road,
when your moving you can look at what all the sensors are doing
AFM , fuel trim , Boost , air inlet temp , Watertemp ,

down at all tuners they will do a road test as well as a dyno run
what do you think they did when they did not have a dyno.
a drive with a tech2 pluged in an have a look see ifs all working
the Dyno is more or less a PR tool for them unless doing power runs for people an R&D work makes it faster and cheaper

Can we stay on topic maybe and not start a slagging match about dyno's and the likes

I chose thorney cos i wanted to go there. John has been very helpful and has good customer service. I wanted a tuner with a dyno .SIMPLE AS!
I don't care if its not necessary but it's my money, my choice.
Not all about money though is it Danny? If it was then u wouldn't have gone to regal would u not?

Thanks for the good comments guys.

not havin a go just explaining, dyno is better tho as dont have to look at rd and other users when on a dyno and basically you aint gonna get rev limiter to cut in in 4th or 5th or 6th on the road well legally anyway lol
