Hey ppl, i own a 2002 sri turbo, a friend of mine said he could flash tune my car using an ecu flashing tool. first he read the software that was on my ecu and stored it on his laptop. the car still started and worked as it should. then he started uploading the modified file onto the car but for some reason the cars batterey went weak hallway into the file being flashed onto the ecu.

Now the car will not start and there is no engine mangagment light when the ignition is on. he tried uploading the standard file back onto the ecu but it wouldnt work.

We plugged a snap on diagnostic machine into the obd port and it couldnt pick anything up what so ever.

Any suggestions and advice on how to cure this problem?

Thanks

he will have killed your ecu what you shoudl have done is put a charger on the battery while doing the upload

the car still turns over, locks and unlocks ect, would this be affected by the ecu going up the shoot?

^ read about tales like this before and sounds about right so a new ECU and a trip tp VX for programming may be in order. Hope your friend has a healthy bank balance :(

That won't matter, you might be able to get away and get the ecu reprogrammed by vauxhall which will cost about £65 if not it new ecu

Any idea why the engine managment lights hasnt showed up though? or is it possible that the ecu is completely gone.

Locking and unlocking etc controlled by a different 'ecu'. Pretty sure the car will turn over with duff ecu but due to ecu fault, no ignition/fuelling commands are being issued.

Means it isn't picking up the ecu
