Hi All,
I bought an x reg Astra Coupe 2.0 Turbo a few weeks ago.
It was okay but I have noticed its started to smoke white/light blue smoke from the exhaust when idle or reversing and it is getting worse.
It has got a K n N induction kit and stage 1 chip, also the previous owner had the boost turned down, dont know if this is anything to do with it.
Some friends have mentioned the Turbo Seals???
Anyones help would be greatly appreaciated.
Thanks

Katie

does the smoke get worst when driving it on boost?

No not when its on boost, when its driving it seems fine its only when the engine is idling or i'm reversing - got stuck in very bad traffic today and it was just pouring out when i was sat in a que with it out of gear - it was just ticking over not sure what to think about it - ended up pulling over for 45 mins to let the engine cool to see if that helped as it got worse the warmer the engine got.

thanks
katie

i had similar problems on my 2.0 n/a. it turned out it was burning oil, but this could be something different

It will be your turbo oil seals for sure, its time to replace the whole unit. ask the garage if this is covered under there warranty. otherwise you will be looking at a about 500 pounds for a new vxr turbo and around 200 pounds to fit it by a decent garage. :)

you could get it rebuilt for about £200 or upgrade it to the LEH one which is stronger.

if its any consolidation, my warranty covered all standard mechanical parts and my car was doing the same. it turned out to be piston rings and the turbo unit. got them all replaced, thankfully!!

hope you get it sorted

So do i.
Its supposed to be under warenty so i doubt they'd pay for a vxr turbo but it would be nice if they did lol

The symptoms are turbo seals as it's smoking when it's warm and at idle. Valve stem seals tend to be smoke on start up, esspecially when the engine is cold. Piston rings would produce smoke under boost.

Good luck with the warrenty, when mine went it was not covered as it was put down to wear and tear, I was not very happy to say the least :(, fingers crossed you fare better better than me.
