Which One Is The Best

Hey i am thinking about going racing and want to do it in a mk4 astra. was just wondering which one would be the bet model. is the highest a 2.2 Turbo.

n how much could ou pick one up for really

The 2.2 is NA engine with 147PS. The turbo is "only" 2.0 with 194PS. That would be the most powerfull but is your planning alot for over 300PS. Engine swap will be needed or then you have change the internals.

go for the 2ltr turbo

200 bhp out of the box and with suspension tweaks is a good handling car, break upgrades would be a good idea 2

the mk4's 2ltr turbos come in gsi, sri-t and coupe turbo trims

all range from 3-9k obviously depending on where u buy it from (ebay obvi being cheap), mileage, age etc

what kind of "racing" do u mean?

maybe a NA model may be better suited to the conditions

just cos the LETs have the most power "out of the box" it doesnt necessarily mean they are ideal for all applications.

You may be better off with a NA motor stripped of all its non essential parts - tuned it could be in the region of 150-200 depending on what ur base model is. May prove better than the turbo in terms of performance long term and reliability.....

but to be honest if this fella is gunna be doing circuit track day kinda things (im assumeing thats what he wants to do) id say the mk3 or mk2 would be a better idea than the heavier mk4 body (or even a nova or a corsa)

to get a na mk4 to go quick u have to spend a shed loads on tuning i would have thought
