View Full Version : spoke to vaux dealership about z20let turbo being superseded...
..and was told that they use the turbo from the 200bhp sri not the vxr?
am a little confused?
is it just the tuners that go for the vxr turbo?

yeah its the sri turbo they use,i thought new sri and vxr turbos were the same, but there is a difference:(
Maybe they miss informed as my local one told me the VXR one is now listed as a replacement for the ZLET but it has gone up in price

is the zlet turbo really that bad that a turbo from a less powerful engine superseeds it!!!!!!! (sri 170)
although after having mine for nearly 3 weeks and 1500 miles it seems to have come alive this week.

better oil feed maybe???
Is the Turbo from the LEL / LER the same as the old LET turbo or is it different in some way?
Edit: Ah, just re-read Welsh Andy's post.
Cheers

Was in Vauxhall last week for oil change and was told the z20let turbo has been replaced with the vxr unit and also the guy is on a forum with me

i was told that by vauxhall too, but as said there is a difference, someone buy a standard ler/lel/let turbo and map it to phase 3 and c what happens, lol
i would suggest ppl contact courtenays and other turbo places, they will confirm there are differences, also there r 2 part numbers and 2 prices, the lel, ler, let turbo is a lot more dosh that the leh one for some reason:confused:
Thats Vauxhall for you Andy lol

Hi all i know this will sound like a stupid question but is there a way i can run down my turbo? I just bought a gsi and it has a year warranty on everything including turbo. Just wonderd if i could knacker it up to get it swapped out with the vxr 1?

take the car for a run get it hot and just turn it off
this will cook the turbo

you would need to do this more then once as this causes gradual damage, carbon build ups etc

Good point, if you really want to kill it just block the oil feed pipe and it will die within a few minutes :cheesy:

Must be true then
Don't see why they'd use the VXR one when theres clearly a lot of people having problems with them, the LER one is probably better suited.

maybe was some old stock floating around, thats y it was swapped for the Leh one, but the Let isnt being swapped for the vxr, its swapped for lel,ler one.

Is that definate that they wont replace it with the leh one ? im not going to cut the oil supply off or anything like that ive got a mate with a ACT and his turbos bearings are on their way out. I was going to swap with him if theres a chance of getting the leh turbo. Mind you it wouldnt be so bad if i got a new turbo under warranty regardless of what it was lol
i deal with used car warranties every day at work , i work for a ford dealership, and if i was you id check the paperwork for this warranty as most dont cover wear and tear, in fact most used car warranties arent worth the paper their written on.....
