View Full Version : Amp Power Plug - Photos
Well, some of you may remember I mentioned about putting a plug system into my car for the subs power/earth and remote cables to make it really quick to remove.
Well heres the pics.
Notice the reverse kettle plug idea.

The plug is the reverse version so that when unplugged, no pins are visible/touchable at the live side.

Im liking that Skuzzle. I assume is was quite easy to do?
yeah, just fed the wires through the plastic trim to the back, then under the carpet of the rear arch - then cut a hole to fit the socket.
Soldered the 3 wires to that and then the reverse on the plug side.
Simple really.
And very tidy when you take the subs out.
The only hard part was making sure i cut into a hollow part of the carpetted wall (big enough for the socket).

Can you just buy the 'kettle' connections from somwhere? Or should I destroy my mums Tefal set? Hee hee
Oh come on Ritchie ! :)
Kettles - looks like pc power cables to me available in Maplins etc.

lol :D
remember to do it backwards though.
If you look at a kettle, the bit that is part of the kettle will be your socket but it has little metal pins sticking out - not safe if its live so you need the reverse versions.
So no, dont destroy the kettle, go to maplins.
And also, PC power cables are no good.
The extension cables are though as it has the correct plug on 1 end.
but all the bits can be bought cheap at maplins.
But just remember, think of which side will be live and make sure that is the side with no visible / touchable pins.
