right ive set all of my timing marks inline im about to put the belt on but the tensioner is there a special way of doing it? please help

you set them in line at top marks on the cam housing ? its easier if you remove the tensioner to put belt on then move it round with the allen key think there a how to somewhere

fit it from bottom up, easiest way

so i tighten the tensioner with the torque bolt. then i set the tension bny turning the plate with the allen key?

Good on you for having a go on your own but if your not a competent mechanic the Timing belt is the last DIY job you should do unless you are 100% sure. 1 Tooth out or 180 degree's out and potentially bye bye engine. Probably bit late now but always turn engine over a few times 1st to make sure belt seated correctly and timing marks still line up. Can either do with spanner on bottom pulley or disconnect ignition pack and turn over with key.

lol to be truthful ive never stripped an engine down before and ive just taken all the head off and stripped it and put it all back together. but thanks all for the advice!!!!

Nice one mate, how was it taking the head off? I've thinking about doing a rebuild in France next year lol
