only around £90 odd retail for the pump, got double discount as was opened, so had it for around £70
I've never heard mine go............ Do they really work?
I'd like to have the weight saving to be honest, get rid maybe?

I asked if the ZLET had one of these pumps on here 18 months ago and IIRC the general consensus was that no, there isn't one!
I think I may well of heard mine running a time or two but I'm not 100% sure TBH.
I've had these pumps on other cars and used to hear them run a great deal of the time after a run in the car. Maybe VX didn't quite get round to sorting the system out properly

is strange as this is soarce of on my fault code, well 2 codes really, vaux said it was either auxiliary cooling pump(part no.9120117) and/or engine coolin module(24462347)
well changed coolin module yesterday, but no difference, maybe needs coding as andy said. so that leaves the pump as maybe why fault codes coming up, so if these pumps wernt fitted wouldnt u all get fault codes??

Oooh, coolant/aircon control system fault, a b'stad to resolve IMHO.
Do you have lights up on your dash?

oh yes, 2 faults, my reader couldnt find them but tech 2 did, hence they said what i needed. cant remember codes off hand. but have the coolant light and spanner light

Check your fuse around the 39 area of fuseboard, see if its blown. 5 or 7.5amp IIRC.

ok will have a nose in morn as its going into vaux, if it turns out 2 b a fuse i will go mental with vaux:mad:
one code is
P1490 - Auxiliary Cooling Pump Relay Short To Ground
other one was P0530

My fuse 39 kept blowing, found out its the pump siezed. Ive got a seperate wire runing to my cooling module at the moment so my fans and air con work. I believe the LEH doesnt have this cooling pump but doesnt it have a cooling mod for the turbo anyway?
Definitely has one as mine is making a noise and no the VXR doesnt have one

i just checked fuse 39and was blown,o took fuse outof 42,sam 5am one and started car, ligtswent out, 20secs l8r lights came back on,hadblownte new fuse.
so maybe the pump
Just recently had both the pump (seized solid) and coolant ecu replaced, had to get the fault codes cleared by vx, been fine since

If you unplug it and bypass it does it put up a fault code?
no lights come on the dash bored, mine runs perfectly fine
Davet have you bypassed yours and left it disconnected?

all sorted:) pump had siezed, can get on with selling coupe again now8)
Davet have you bypassed yours and left it disconnected?
yes mate i have :) only tempory untill i get a new one like
Why not just leave it as it is?
The MK5 doesnt have one

Rather than bypassing with a bit of pipe, would it be possible to rip the guts out of the pump and re-fit the pump body only?
Why not just leave it as it is?

I dont really want to leave it as the pump apparently pumps cooling around the turbo after you have switched the engine off. If Vaux have put it on the car it must be there for a reason.
Monty, im not sure really, i never done mine a vaux specialist did it.

Strange how the LEH engine does not have this recirculating pump installed but has the cooling mod pipes, I suppose its good when engine is running but when you turn it off does that not mean the turbo just cook's away till it cools down its self

The Aux pump doesn't work all the time - it's contolled by the ecu and only kicks in when the engine is turned off and absolutely necessary. I suspect a combination of better airflow and more space in the engine bay made vaux decide to do without it for the Mk5 - and cost I guess.

So having my SMIC would probably do the job for me instead of needing a new pump?
Its such a shame it don't come on everytime you shut engine off.... I constantly hear water boiling when mines turned off even after everything has cooled. Then if I start again water temp is really hot.... Stupid ecu!

Personally I wouldn't - The mk5 has a bigger overall intake area & the ZLET is pretty tightly packed in, I'd keep mine as a failsafe - but that's just my opinion.

really cant imagine any manufacture putting a cooling pump on if it wernt needed imo. theres bound to be some issue as time goes on i would have though

Yeah I suppose like welshandy says we will just have to wait and see what starts going bang on VXR's when they get a bit older, time will tell. :)

Soz andy, forgot you are getting one :) I would love one but will have to wait a few years, but I think my next turbo car (if I ever get another will have to be four wheel drive) you should see a young lad's black subaru STI in my street 06 plate too, every time he goes past the house his dump valve nearly blows me windows out, must have big boost under the hood. :D
