View Full Version : Low Turbo Boost
My Astra GSI went on a rolling road a few weeks ago and when it was on the rollers the operator said it had low boost.
Why is this happening and what can i do to sort it?
Tha GSI still achieved 200bhp even with low boost.
Can anyone Help?
Loads of reasons why, the operator should have told you what he thought it was, anything from loose pipe to badly adjusted actuator will do it, plus a million other things.

Did the operator give you any/measure boost figures?
He said it was around 2psi, are they supposed to run at about 9psi?
How do you sort the actuator out, or will i have to take it to vauxhall?
I would have thought it would be running well under 200bhp if it was running 2 psi.
What mods have you got?
have you got a boost guage to check what boost your running?

I would say it was doing more then 2 PSi
Have got Enlarged Air Intake, derestricted air box with K&N panel filter, dump valve and power pipe, Front De-Cat pipe, jap style back box.
Havent got a boost gauge yet.

your car must be running correctly as 200 with those mods is about riht. He probably had a boost leak where he connected on to your car or on his machine

shouldnt think with 2psi you would have 200bhp. probably a bad connection to his machine. if you have little boost on a low compresion engine then power would be well down and it clearly isnt!
It feels alot slower since i first got my gsi.

everyone thinks they are slower than when u got them. i think you get used to it. you really need a boost gauge next to see what your blower is doing. then take it from there!
Thats what i was going to say.
Once you get used to the power the car feels slower. If you went in a 1.6 astra i bet you you'd think the 1.6 was broken or something. lol
If the rolling road said you was on 200bhp then thats spot on. It would be running alot less if it was really only running 2 psi.
Get a boost gauge on so you can see for yourself Make sure you get a good one. not a £20 one off ebay.
Fitted a boost gauge and my car is runnning at 5psi, so it is not runniing correctley.
hmm standard boost presure is should be about 10psi. would be good to check the hose's attached to the boost solinoids to make sure they arn't split.
Is split or loose hoses all that could cause low boost?.
The actuator might be incorrectly adjusted

take a pic of the actuator adjuster rod and put it up here
