Is there a way to force (through wire bodging or otherwise) the fans to stay on all the time? It's just that when i'm on the track, it gets seriously warm in the engine dept - i have to leave it with the heater on max heat/speed to get the temp out of it when i'm off-track. Else, when i get off the track and stop, the temperature ends up over 100 degrees C...

Don't know why ur temp is so high. when i've been on the track a few times my temp hasn't been any higher than normal. thats with the aircon and the blowers off.

Maybe if its a slow track then it would heat up more. the track i was on had 2 long straights 110mph +

Do you have a fmic stopping all the airflow to ur rad?
Maybe a cool running termostat would help?

Edit: Just re-read your post. I also have to open the bonnet, turn the aircon on and heater on to get the temp down when stopping after a session for about 5 mins.

The fan speed is all controlled by the ecu and is difficult to modify without throwing up fault codes.

Best I could do is fit two aftermarket fans in between the 'cooler and the rad in place of the oe air con one - this is easier to replace and has a much simpler control mechanism.

You could also change one of these to run from an independant rad controller very easily.

Either that or a big vented bonnet of course!

Yeah mine gets like that to after a long blast....

But saying that once and only once I left my turbo timer to 3 mins, when the engine cut off the fans stayed on. Never happened before, must have been hot eh?

problem running the fans is that it grabs lots of horsepower. Look at your volt meter when just the interior fan comes on, drops from 14v to 12v

You would be better off running a performance radiator or even better getting lots of vents into the engine bay area as Scottyboy said. When I run the Zafira down Santa Pod I take a panel out so that tons of air slips out under the bonnet and over the windscreen, keeps the temps far lower

Not too sure about your car, but i added a fan overide to a mk3 astra once, Using a 4 pin relay and a small switch.

The car is all standard...and the track is the nurburgring - so it's not short of massive speeds with equally massive airflow! It's only when it's stood still do the temps start to climb, as i said before.

It might just be a case of driving it around a bit more after i finish tracking it.

If its just after you have finished just open the bonnet up and put the heater on hot and aircon on. Putting the aircon on makes the fans go. leave the engine running for five mins and the temp will never go over half way.
Cheaper than getting more fans.
