Problem started Sunday 16th April 2007
Resently started hearing 4 bleeps from the car when the engine has just been turned off.
Alarm has now gone into random mode. Going off when doors locked. Going off when doors left open. Going off when in theory alarm is not set. Some times its the power sounder and some time just a quieter alarm.
Can someone give me please advise.

here you go, something to do with the internal battery
oh and welcome to AOC

cant you just unplug the power sounder and just have the horn ?
Slightly incorrect info in the link - you don't need it tech 2'ing to the car, or even disconnect the battery to change it
check the how-to's on here for accurate gen.
If you just want to remove it then unplug it with the ignition turned on, and it 'll come off without any drama. But your car won't be fully protected by the alarm, so it's best to replace it at some point

The powersounder on the Zaf and Astra can be troublesome at times and have a variety of symptoms.
Chances are replacing this item will cure your ailments, but try doing a search on the forum for more gen.

why wont the car be fulley protected by the alarm it will still sound the horn and flash the lights if someone gets in your motor
It won't if they disable the main battery tho: that's what the power sounder does - it's there as a back up alarm and will go off when the battery is dosconnected.

yeah i can see your point with that one one big downside to the standard alarm it has no shock or impact sensor so if someone hits your car it dont sound any idear on how to add one to the system?
Can't help you on that I'm affraid - that's one for Autosparks' techy brain
I've moved the thread to his domain so he'll no-doubt see it and reply soon

Hello mate, just turn the ignition on and disconect it, that will work.
you will need a new 1 to be programmed using tech2
you will need a new 1 to be programmed using tech2No you don't - that's a myth spread by VX dealers to get money out of folk. If you follow the how-to it will just fit straight back on, without drama

Cheers for moving this Ffeog so i'll see it, missing so much on the forums at the moment
Removing the power sounder permamently will mean not only is your car not protected fully it will mean that it is no longer thatham cat 1 approved which the insurance company should know it has so if anything happened to it they could get out of paying out for damage/ stolen etc
As for adding adding a seperate shock sensor you should be able to do that by linking onto the bonnet switch wire for the trigger and following the instructions for the rest of the wires on whatever unit you get
